After a work attributed to Parmigianino (Parma 1503-Casalmaggiore 1540)
Apostles in a variety of attitudes c.1853-76
-
A photograph of a drawing ascribed to Parmigianino now in the Uffizi, Florence (inv. no.1221 E). The drawing appears to copy figures from Raphael's design of The Death of Ananias, one of the ten tapestries commissioned by Pope Leo X for the Sistine Chapel. It has been suggested that the Uffizi drawing may either record a lost preparatory study by Raphael (Pouncey 1976) or be inspired by the chiaroscuro woodcut of the same subject by Ugo da Carpi (Oberhuber/Gnann 1999). For further discussion, see Bibliographic References.
