A print on two joined sheets representing a vertical pilaster decorated with grotesque ornament and incorporating various motifs, including two caryatid figures supporting a structure with the three Fates (Clotho, Lachesis, Atropos). Dated and lettered with artists' names. Numbered at upper left: No. 9. Published in G. Volpato and G. Ottaviani, Loggie de Rafaele nel Vaticano, vol.III, plate 9.
The central panel is derived from the vertical border woven at the right of the tapestry of Christ's Charge to Peter now in the Vatican Museums (inv. no.43868); it is generally known as the Border of the Fates. A photograph of the tapestry can be found at RCIN 853039.Provenance
