A print after a portrait when in the Cabinet du Roi (Royal Collection). Lettered with production details and attribution of the painting to Raphael. Published in Recueil Crozat, Paris 1729, plate 12.
The painting depicts the three-quarter length figure of Cardinal Giulio de' Medici and is clearly derived from Raphael's Portrait of Leo X with Cardinals Giulio de' Medici and Luigi de' Rossi (1517-18) now in the Uffizi, Florence (inv.1912, no.40).Provenance
Added to the Prince Consort's Raphael Collection (c.1853-76)
