A photograph of the so-called Madonna della Quercia, a painting attributed to Raphael and his workshop (c.1518-19) now in the Museo del Prado, Madrid (inv. no.303) generally reputed to be after a design by the master. Laid down on Arches watermarked paper. Not listed in Ruland’s Raphael Collection catalogue (1876). Another photograph of the painting can be found at RCIN 850998.
Showing the full length Virgin seating under an oak tree, holding the Christ Child on her right knee, who reaches for the inscribed scroll held by the Young John the Baptist who stands at right, with St Joseph resting on a sculpted fragment at right and looking on; in a landscape.Provenance
