An engraving after a painting when in the possession of the Prince d’Esterhazy, Pottendorf now in the Sźepmüvészeti Múzeum, Budapest (inv. no.160).
The painting is one of a number reproducing a composition traditionally known as the Madonna del Velo, the original version of which (currently untraced) is thought to have been painted by Raphael’s workshop after a design by the master dating c.1510-12 (see Bibliographic References).
