A hand-coloured print of Napoleon standing on a balcony of the Tuileries Palace watching with horror the scene below as a mob surrounds the Palace carrying heads on pikes. Death encourages Napoleon to look whilst a Devil pushes both Napoleon and Marshal Ney, who wears blue, closer together. More frightened generals stand in the background. An hour glass on the balcony keeps check on Napoleon's awaited fate. Inscribed in the plate: Pubd April 16th 1815 by R Ackermann No 101 Strand
