Alongside him stands his pretty young wife who, seizing her chance, kisses a young army officer. To the left of the couple stands an old man, bent against the wind with his hat tied on to his head. A guard holding a rifle stands in the background. In the foreground, another couple sit gazing at each other with their hands interlaced.
