A hand-coloured print of a 'cake' or a naive young man falling prey to the charms of two prostitutes, one of whom steals a handkerchief from the man's pocket. Meanwhile, a Nightwatchman holding a truncheon and with a clay pipe in his hat, leans on the lower half of the door to his sentry box, asleep, oblivious to what is happening. Verse underneath the design reads: "Careful Observers, Studious of the Town, Shun the Misfortunes that disgrace the Clown" Gay's Trivia Inscribed in the plate: Pubd Apr 20 1806 by J Rolandson [illegible] / Rowlandson
