An uncoloured print, unfinished. A group of three male archers are practising on the left possibly during a meeting of the Hertfordshire Archers on the 10th July 1789 in which Miss Harcourt won the Gold Medal. On the left side stand spectators and a marquee. A cart and horse stands at the far end of the field near the target. On the right, a young man with a dog talks to a young woman sitting on a horse. Archery clubs and meetings flourished in the eighteenth century and became a popular place to meet members of the opposite sex. A companion print to RCIN 810377.
