An uncoloured print of a stout old man sitting with his gout ridden foot supported on a low stool. He is comforted by a young maid who holds his hand whilst another maid pours him a drink from a bottle. In the corner, a man servant holds a tureen ready to be eaten by the patient. In the doorway stands a large man looking on. A book entitled 'Treatment of Gout' lies discarded on the floor. Inscribed in the plate: Rowlandson 1785 / London Publish'd Novr 30th 1785 by JR Smith No 83-Oxford Street
