A hand-coloured print of Major John Cartright standing in the foreground, his face in profile as he denounces the 'Lords of the Bedchamber' (among them Pitt and Thurlow) and other corruptions, while grasping the pole of 'Liberty'. Behind him stands Admiral Lord Hood with his drawn sword. On the right and apparently unmoved by Cartright's speech is a crowd of Whig supporters. Hand-coloured impression of RCIN 810046. Inscribed in the plate: Pubd March 29 1784 by Mrs Dacheray St James's Street
