A Persian cross-hilted scimitar. The pistol grip of ivory plates with indentures for fingers. Silver-gilt quillon block with a Persian design with oviform endings. Three silver-gilt chains are attached to the pommel and quillon. Curved steel blade with nielloed back edge, inlaid with a passage from the Quran.
Provenance
According to the Windsor Castle North Corridor inventory, 'A blade (from the Round Tower) was fitted to this hilt in 1902.'
