A print of the battle of Ligny, showing Marshal Blücher caught under his fallen horse. The battle of Ligny was fought between the Prussians, under Blücher, and the French army, led by Napoleon. The Prussians were hoping for allied reinforcements, but the simultaneous battle of Quatre-Bras meant that these never arrived. The Prussians were defeated, and Blücher was injured in a fall from his horse, as this print shows.
