Percussion musical instrument, known as a Turkish crescent; comprising a brass crescent hung with six bells, on an iron pole running through a circular horizontal platform made up of cymbals hung with twelve bells (two missing) down to a smaller circular platform with six bells (one missing).
The instrument originated in Central Asia and then became popular with Turkish and European marching bands. It is held in an upright position to be played by shaking or twisting it. -
