RAF Full Dress Uniform 1920-34
Wool, brass and braid | RCIN 74376
-
RAF Full Dress uniform, pattern 1920: jacket (1920), RAF blue wool, seven brass buttons, standup collar with gold lace embroidery, ADC devices on epaulettes, Marshal of the RAF rank lace on cuffs; trousers (overalls) (1934) with gold braid on outer leg; gold braid and gilt metal aigulettes attached to jacket.
Provenance
Belonged to King George VI, who assumed the rank of Marshal of the RAF in December 1936. It is likely that this is an earlier uniform which, for display purposes, has had rank insignia of Marshal of the RAF applied.
