Sèvres soft paste porcelain pair of vases and covers. Bleu nouveau ground with gilt bronze mounts; domed covers with gilt husk flutes and pierced gilt bronze collars, painted in gold with a classical frieze, circular stem and foot with flutes on square base.
Provenance
Recorded in 1826 in the Gilt Column Room, Basement Floor, Carlton House: ‘No.51 A pair of magnificent blue and gold Seve Porcelain Vases and fluted Covers, with Oak leaf and Acorn tops, and pierced borders; the bodies painted in gold coloured mythological figures, and mounted in ormolu, with Cupid handles holding bunches of grapes square plinths; height 30 In’.
