Circular brown wax seal attached to a vellum document concerning property at Bishopsgate, London
Seal: Elizabeth I crowned, seated on a throne, holding a sceptre and orb. On either side of her, two hands which appear from clouds hold up her mantle. In the background are two Tudor roses and two escutcheons of France and England quarterly, crowned and encircled with the Order of the Garter. The legend on the outer edge of the seal reads: "ELISABETHA . DEI. GRACIA . ANGLIE . FRANCIE . ET. HIBERNIE . REGINA . FIDEI. DEFENSOR".
Counter Seal: Elizabeth I on horseback, facing left, crowned and holding a sceptre and orb. Rays issue from clouds above her head. On her right is a crowned Tudor rose; on her left are a crowned fleur de lis and a crowned harp of Ireland. Flowers decorate the space between the horse's legs. The legend on the outer edge of the counter seal reads as on the seal. -
