A Chinese porcelain vase, pear-shaped with spreading foot, the neck with spreading lip and a pair of flat side handles in the form of openwork dragons. Painted under the celadon glaze in blue on either face is a circular design composed of archaic dragons formalised as geometric scrollwork, outlined in white slip; in between, scrollwork and ruyi-heads, and on the neck above, archaic-style jade pendants. Recessed within the low foot, the celadon-glazed base is painted with the six-character reign-mark Da Qing Qianlong nian zhi (‘Made in the reign of the Qianlong emperor of the Great Qing’) in seal script.
