Pikeman's pot about 1630-40

Pikeman's pot, formed in two pieces with a tall hemispherical crown rising to a low medial comb, and a fairly narrow integral brim turned down at each side, the edges of the latter (patched at the front) decorated with plain inward turns accompanied by a recessed border occupied by round-headed lining-rivets, the base of the crown encircled by similar rivets, the brim struck with the crowned ‘IR’ government ownership mark of the reign of James II (1685–8).
