Silk banner of olive taffeta with an applied tiger's head in couched gold thread, lined with green silk, and fringed; suspended on a giltwood pole with a green and white silk cord and silk and gold thread tassels. The pole has a finial inset with a ruby and a diamond.
Provenance
Taken from Tipu, Sultan of Mysore after his defeat by British forces at Seringapatam, 1799.
Recorded in the North Corridor Inventory of Windsor Castle as the banners of Tipu, Sultan of Mysore (1750-1799). -
