A lead and antimony alloy urn with a fixed cover with a finial in the form of fruit and foliage, the cover cast with leaves in high relief; the body cast with figures representing Spring, the lower body gadrooned, on a circular spreading base decorated with oak leaves. Stone socle and marble plinth.
The vase bodies cast by Filips van der Mij in Leiden.The feet and lids were modelled by Giovanni Battista Lurago.
The vase is one in a set of four representing the seasons.Provenance
Bought by George IV in 1825. Received at Carlton House from Mr Graham of Waterloo Place on 25th July 1825 'Four large vases (...)' at a cost of £472.10.0 (Juts Rec II 206).
