In the foreground, a shepherd sleeps by the bank of the river Thames near his sheep. Some houses on the left hand side. The view show the Castle and St George's Chapel during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I (1558-1603) and is taken from a drawing by Joris Hoefnagel, RCIN 912936.
This print was published in the Gentleman's Magazine, April 1850. It is lettered above the image Gentleman's Magazine April 1850. Under the image, the inscription Swaine fc 1850 and below it the title. -
