A honey coloured mineral specimen, possibly part of a stalactite which had formed in the Cango Caves. It had been traditional for visitors to the caves, near Oudtshoorn in South Africa, to take away pieces of the stalactites and stalagmites as souvenirs, this practice was later stopped and the caves became one of the first sites of interest in South Africa to be protected by environmental legislation. The piece is on a silver base inscribed with its provenance.
