  • Harquebusier's breastplate of ‘vestigial peascod’ fashion, formed in one piece with a narrow raised neck-opening and a short waist-flange, each side of the chest fitted with a mushroom-shaped stud to receive a shoulder-strap.  The neck and arm-openings formed with plain inward turns and with later holes for lining-rivets pierced around them.

Bearing at the right of its chest the proof-mark of a musket-shot and struck at its neck-opening with the initial ‘N’ of the London Armourer Peter Newton (made free 1630, presented mark 1637, elected Master 1662) together with the helmeted ‘A’ mark used by the London Armourers’ Company after 1649/50, and just above its waist with the mark of a Maltese cross. Additionally struck just above the waist with an elaborate but indistinct mark.
