Mezzotint with stipple and etching of Sir James Yorke Scarlett. Whole length equestrian figure in barded uniform with helmet, holding the reins in left hand and a sword in right. With a view of troops on horseback in a landscape in the background. Proof before lettering, with publisher's address above, 'London Published October 25th 1858 by Messers Fores, 44 Piccadilly.'
Sir James Yorke Scarlett was a General in the British army, who served in the Crimean War (1853-56) and fought at the Battle of Balaclava (1854). -
