A pair of gold earrings, each set with a cabochon garnet above a quatrefoil reserve with a pear-shaped jacinth, citrine, opal and turquoise; with three pendants set with ruby, jacinth and amethyst; the stones forming an acrostic spelling VICTORIA (vermeil (garnet), jacinth (i), citrine, turquoise, opal, ruby, jacinth (i), amethyst).
Queen Victoria wears a pair of earrings of similar size and shape (possibly these) in the portrait by Edward Parris, painted in 1837 when she attended the Theatre Royal in Drury Lane (RCIN 405577).Provenance
