An engraving of Spranger Barry and Maria Isabella Nossiter as Romeo and Juliet from Shakespeare's play of the same name. They are shown enacting the balcony scene, with Barry gesturing up to Nossiter who leans over a balustrade. The interior may represent a staging of the play (with a chandelier hanging between the couple) rather than an imagination of the dramatic scene.
