  • Close helmet with two-piece skull joined by brazing along the crest of a high, boldly roped medial comb, fitted at the nape with a plume-holder and at each side, by means of common pivots, with a forward-sloping visor, a prow-shaped upper bevor and a bevor.

The visor is pierced above a step with a row of four small vision-slits, each flanged outwards at its upper edge, the upper bevor pierced at each side with ventilation holes of various shapes and arrangements, and the lower edges of the skull and bevor each formed with a boldly roped, internally hollowed rim designed to lock over and rotate on the turned upper edge of a gorget.

The helmet is etched on its comb and in bands to either side of it with running foliage and flower-heads on a stippled and blackened ground, and at all subsidiary edges with narrow bands of cabling.
