A Malaysian kris, the hardwood handle carved as a grotesque figure, the gilt ferrule decorated with floral filigree. The two-edged wavy watered steel blade ridged at the base. The hardwood sheath with a wide mouthpiece, the haft encased in chased gilt with scrolling foliage and peacocks.
Provenance
Presented to George IV when Prince Regent by Stamford Raffles, 17 July 1813. Recorded at Carlton House (CH AA 2362) and later in the North Corridor at Windsor Castle (WC Nrth Corr 520).
