A Firangi (sword). The grip bound with silver and gold cord. The guard and pommel decorated with damascened gold, the circular flat pommel with a long curved, pointed finial. Back-edged straight steel blade with three grooves. Formerly belonged to Tipu Sultan of Mysore, Seringapatam.
Provenance
According to the North Corridor Inventory of Windsor Castle, 'This sword was taken from the bedchamber of the late Tippoo Saib [Tipu Sultan of Mysore] Seringapatram. Presented by Lord Mornington, April 2nd,1800.'
