A Burmese spear with a knife-shaped blade and an iron socket surmounting a wooden shaft, the top cased in plated copper divided with mouldings, horizontal bands and bosses; the wooden shaft tapering towards the base.
Provenance
Presented to George IVby Lieutenant Colonel Miles, July 1825. Recorded in the Armoury at Carlton House with the note 'Taken in Action with the Burmese Forces'.
Lieutenant Colonel William Miles (1780–1860) commanded the 89th Regiment which took Tavoy (now Dawei) and Mergui in Burma (now Myanmar) in autumn 1824 during the First Anglo-Burmese War. -
