Powder horn late eighteenth century
-
A powder horn made of a cow's horn with a carved, faceted and round finial. Body engraved with a map of Canada, royal coat of arms with supporters and motto and a landscape view of New York and reindeer.
Provenance
Both Sir Guy Laking's Armoury of Windsor Castle (no.376) and the Inventory of the North Corridor at Windsor Castle (WC Nrth Corr 2002) record the powder horn with 'a belt of red and black cotton, sewn with white beads', now apparently missing.
