Engraving with etching of Mary, Queen of Scots and James VI King of Scotland, (James I of Great Britain). Whole length figures, the Queen with hair under a lace cap, closed ruff, gown with high collar, lace cuffs, and mantle, standing holding a book in left hand and with her right placed on the head of her son. To the left, James VI is pictured standing with bare head, embroidered gown, and holding a rose in left hand and a wide brimmed hat in the right. With English inscription below, including publisher's address, 'Published as the Act directs Jan 26, 1779 by John Boydell Engraver in Cheapside London.' Fourth state with Boydell's address.
