Engraving of Louis XVIII, King of France. Whole length with tied wig, lace tie, ermine mantle, and with collar of the Order of the Holy Sprit. The King is pictured standing holding a sceptre in right hand, beside a sceptre and crown, with columns and drapery behind. With French inscription below. Cut down. Plate from Charles Gavard's Galeries historiques de Versailles published in the 1830s and 1840s. The plate is signed 'Diagraphe et Pantographe Gavard', indicating that the plate was created using an invention devised by Gavard which allowed him to create accurate copies of images in various scaled-down sizes.
