Engraving with etching of the sons of Armand Louis de Bethune. Whole length figures, a scene of two young boys finely dressed seated outdoors. The child to the left is pictured seated on a rock with a tied wig, frilled collar, and jacket, playing a guitar, while the second child is shown seated to the right, wearing a plumed cap, and holding a small pug dog in his arms. With French inscription below.
This portrait was previously thought do depict the infant Louis XVI, however it is in fact after François-Hubert Drouais' painting, now at the Birmingham Museum of Art, Alabama (Eugenia Woodward Hitt Collection, 1991.254). -
