Engraving with etching of Marie de Medici as Minerva. Whole length figure, with plumed helmet, pearl necklace, loose gown, and sandals. The Queen is pictured in the character of Minerva, holding a sceptre and statue and with putti bearing a wreath above. Within a decorative border with title below.
This print is from a series of twenty-four engravings, known as the La Gallerie du Palais du Luxembourg. This series comprises of engravings after the series of paintings by Rubens commissioned by Marie de Medci which hung in the Gallerie du Palais du Luxembourg. These engravings were based on designs by the Nattier brothers and were published between 1707-09. -
