Engraving of Henry III, King of France. Whole length with short hair, beard, collar, and plumed cap, closed ruff, and robes. The King is pictured surrounded by courtly figures, present at the first ceremony of the Order of the Holy Spirit, established by Henry III in 1578. The King is depicted at the centre, holding the Collar and Order of the Holy Spirit, as a kneeling figure takes an oath. With French inscription above. A plate from Bernard de Montfaucon's Les monumens de la monarchie françoise' (1733).
