Engraving of Charles Ferdinand, Duke of Berry. Whole length with short hair, stock, embroidered jacket, and mantle, with the Order of the Holy Spirit. The Duke is pictured standing holding a plumed hat in left hand, with columns, drapery, and a bust on a pedestal behind. Within a rectangular border with French inscription below. Plate from Charles Gavard's Galeries historiques de Versailles published in the 1830s and 1840s. The plate is signed 'Diagraphe et Pantographe Gavard', indicating that the plate was created using an invention devised by Gavard which allowed him to create accurate copies of images in various scaled-down sizes.
