Engraving of Marie Therese of France, Duchess of Angoulême. Whole length with curled hair tied up with jewelled plumed tiara, veil, jewelled earrings and necklace, gown, and mantle. The Duchess is pictured standing with right hand resting on a glove, with columns and drapery behind. Within a rectangular border with French inscription below. Plate from Charles Gavard's Galeries historiques de Versailles published in the 1830s and 1840s. The plate is signed 'Diagraphe et Pantographe Gavard', indicating that the plate was created using an invention devised by Gavard which allowed him to create accurate copies of images in various scaled-down sizes.
