An etching with engraving of Maria Anna of Spain, wife of Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand III. A bust length portrait inclined right, wearing a lily of the valley headpiece, large ruff, and strings of pearls. The portrait sits within an oval foliate border surrounded by floral garlands. At the bottom of the plate is a scroll bearing a Latin inscription which begins 'Maria ferdinandi III...' The print is one from a series of twenty-two plates of European rulers and their wives, after drawings by Soutman after paintings. The portraits were engraved by Jonas Suyderhoef, Jacob Louys and Pieter van Sompel. The ornamental borders were etched by Pieter Soutman, who published the series in Haarlem c.1650.
