Beneath the portrait, and its frame, is the Latin inscription 'ISABELLA LVSITANA IMPERATRIX REGINA HISPANIARVM ET INDIARVM VXOR CAROLI. V. MATER PHILIPPI II. obyt Au. 1539.'
