Carolus IV c.1804-1807
-
An etching of Charles IV, Holy Roman Emperor. A bust length portrait, wearing a crown and mantle fastened at the chest. A Latin inscription and title below the portrait reads 'CAROLUS IV.' An inscription in the upper right of the plate lists the object as being 'No. 185'. The print was originally part of Anton Ferdinand von Geissau's Geschichte der römischen Kaiser: mit ihren Bildnissen (1804-1807), which included a series of etched portraits of Roman Emperors by the printmaker Mark Quirin.
