Carolus III c.1804-1807
-
An etching of Charles III, Holy Roman Emperor. A bust length portrait turned to the left, wearing a laurel wreath and armour. A Latin inscription and title below the portrait reads 'CAROLUS III.' An inscription in the upper right of the plate lists the object as being 'No. 122'. The print was originally included in Anton Ferdinand von Geissau's Geschichte der römischen Kaiser: mit ihren Bildnissen (1804-1807), which included a series of etched portraits of Roman Emperors by the printmaker Mark Quirin.
