Etching of Charlemagne, Holy Roman Emperor. Medal, or seal, featuring a bust-length portrait of Charlemagne seen in profile facing right, wearing a draped mantle fastened at the shoulder. Within the oval frame is a Latin inscription, 'X PEPROTEGE KAROLUM IMPERATOREM'. Two Latin inscriptions are printed either side of the portrait; 'Hoc sigillo signatum est privilegium quod Carolus M. Osnabrugensi Ecclesiae dedit, tertio Calend. Januar. anno IVto Supra octingentesimum Christi.' and 'Subscriptio Privilegii: Data XIII KI Jan. anno IIII Christo propitio Imperii nostril & XXXVII. regni nostril in Francia, atq XXXI in Italia. Actum Aquisgrani palatio, in DEI nomine feliciter, amen.'
