To the left, the Landgrave is pictured standing beside the figures of his seven sons from his marriage to Juliana of Nassau-Dilenburg: Philip, Hermann, Mortiz, Friedrich, Christian, Ernst, and Philip.
Opposite the Landgrave and his sons is pictured the figure of Juliana of Nassau-Dilenburg, Landgravine of Hesse-Kassel with the figures of her seven daughters:Agnes (later Princess of Anhalt-Dessau), Juliana, Sabina, Magdalene (later Countess of Salm-Reifferscheid), Sophia (later Countess of Schaumburg-Lippe), Christina, and Elisabeth.
The family group are presented within an interior, with coat of arms, columns and drapery behind. With cartouches below containing Latin inscriptions below.
