Woodcut of John William, Duke of Saxe-Weimar. Half length with plumed cap, beard, collar, doublet, and embroidered robes edged in fur. The print has been cut down to the outline of the sitter, and adhered to a secondary sheet of paper with a pen and ink border and a handwritten title below.

This print is from a series of thirty-four portraits of the rulers of Saxony from the ninth to the mid-sixteenth century by Lucas Cranach the Younger (1515–1586), all taken from Gabriel Schnellboltz's Illustrissimorum Ducum Saxoniae praestantium sapientia, virtute et rerum fortiter ac utiliter gestarum gloria heroum vivae effigies (1563).
