Woodcut of Ulrich, Duke of Württemberg. Bust length with short hair, beard, plumed cap, shirt, chains, and with robes edged in fur. Scrolled shields bearing the coats of arms of the Duke are displayed at the top of the block on either side, with German inscription above. A fine impression, the block was later altered removing sections of the plumage and the cap. A rare portrait, there is an extremely close print which may be a copy, see RCIN 608457.
Provenance
Previously in the collection of Johann Andreas Boerner (1785-1862); prints dispersed after his death in Leipzig from 1863-69. Presented to HM the Queen by Mr Gutenkunst, May 1932.
