Lithograph printed in colour with hand-colouring of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert with family. A novelty print, one of a series of prints with integrated movable flaps. View of the Royal train carriage at Windsor. When the two doors of the carriage are opened, they reveal a scene of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, with some of their children and attendants. The Queen and Prince Consort sit to the left, each holding the hand of a small child. At the centre an attendant holds an infant, while to the right another woman sits holding a flower. With a view of a landscape and Windsor Castle in the background. Without inscription. Copy after RCIN 605935.
One of a number of novelty prints produced between 1830 and 1860, which utilise flaps, tabs, or rotating wheels to create integrated movable parts. These prints were popular in the first half of the nineteenth century and were produced by a number of printmakers.
