Lithograph printed in colour with hand-colouring of the children of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. A novelty print, one of a series of prints with integrated movable flaps. View of a black stock, fastened with a chain. When the folds of the stock are opened, they reveal a two children and a child in a bed, likely Victoria, Princess Royal, King Edward VII, and Princess Alice. With English inscription below, including publisher's address, 'London Published by William Spooner, 377, Strand.'
One of a number of novelty prints produced between 1830 and 1860, which utilise flaps, tabs, or rotating wheels to create integrated movable parts. These prints were popular in the first half of the nineteenth century and were produced by a number of printmakers, however William Spooner specialised in the production of novelty prints; as well as mechanical prints Spooner also produced a great number of transparency prints as part of his series titled 'Spooner's Transformations'.
