  • A note relating to the etching of Princess Elizabeth's tomb (RCIN 602118.a) which describes the recording of the coffin by Thomas Pennant and Richard Bull in 1793, and again in 1856 by Dr E Wilkins.

"Princess Elizabeth's Vault in St. Thomas' Church – Newport, I of Wight
From Pennant's journey to the Isle of Wight   Page 167.

"From a drawing made on the spot, lent by Richard Bull Esq. who saw the vault and coffin in the state represented on the 24th Oct. 1793. The Coffin & urn were found in a very perfect state."

In 1856, when the vault was again opened, the urn was missing – Dr E Wilkins made a rubbing & Tracing from the coffin, which he lent me.
